As far back as she can remember, Lana Holmes has been drawing, painting, writing poetry, essays, and short stories. Over the years she has studied independently, mostly through adult education courses at Concordia off campus locations. Live models were studied with Renate Heidersdorf, a well renowned artist and teacher. As a child growing up in England, Lana was fortunate to have had excellent teachers of both art and literature. It is to those teachers that she ascribes her deep love of those subjects.

Over the years Lana has worked in many mediums .Nowadays days she mainly works with watercolour and graphite; her subjects always based in nature. Striving for realism and clarity in her own work, she appreciates the eclectic tastes of all fellow artists.

As well as being a member of AHA, Lana is a member of several Canadian poetry groups, including Chrysalis Ottawa, Kado Ottawa, Haiku Canada. She has been a life member of Canadian Authors Association for ten years.
