Mallé has always had a passion for art and from a young age onward, has found joy in drawing and painting. Her kindergarten teacher noted that “her artwork is exceptionally good”! Despite this early encouragement, Mallé’s education took her in a different direction, into scientific research and eventual completion of a Ph.D. in pharmacology at the University of Toronto. Yet even during her graduate school years, she found an outlet for artistic expression by attending a weekly art class at the Ontario College of Art, where she first met Chinkok Tan who has been a teacher and mentor ever since.

"Evening Sky, Lac des Deux Montagnes"
Today, Mallé continues to balance a professional career in science with new explorations in art, most recently discovering the pleasure of painting with pastels. She almost always paints landscapes, whether in watercolour or pastel, “en plein air” and finds inspiration in the shapes and colour values that nature displays. She also enjoys painting portraits and figures from the live model, equally finding inspiration in the beauty and variety of the human face and form.

"French River Landscape"
Mallé paints intuitively, typically without any prior sketching for landscapes. Her richly-coloured, high value-contrast paintings reflect skill at realistic rendering as well as artistic spontaneity.

"View Towards Golf Course"
Mallé’s paintings are found in private collections in Toronto, Ottawa, Deep River, Montreal, New Brunswick, Estonia and Sweden. She also exhibits her work in group and solo shows.
Mallé lives in Hudson with her husband Tiit and son Indrek.
