From a very young age, Christiane has been drawn to nature and flowers.  Growing up surrounded by meadows, woodlands and mountains in her hometown in Austria, it was her grandmother’s passion for her garden that influenced Christiane early on.  In 1997, Christiane moved with her family to Quebec, where she developed her love for gardening. Christiane always had an interest in art, exploring with pencil, oil and acrylic but never pursued it further until she discovered watercolour in 2016. Botanical illustration quickly became her passion which she was able to combine with her love of flowers.

I love watercolour! It’s unlike any other medium to me. There is a beautiful magic to working with fluid colour and water, responding to what is happening on paper. I am drawn to detail and realism. Every fold, every vein as well as the light and shadows influence how the flower is perceived. I love how the subject stands out against the white paper.
