Ginette Parizeau

Watercolorist for more than 25 years, I paint in my studio, in Hudson, as often as I can. I try to keep it simple, the beauty of nature touches me and gives me the desire to paint. Light and its effects on objects, contrasts that defines the shape of things are among my interests. My favourite subjects : landscapes, intimate or panoramic; street scenes, animated or quiet; architectures; buildings; places that attracts my attention, makes me wonder. I have been commissioned to paint private homes or businesses by their owners, for publicity purposes or to be offered as gifts. I also paint custom pets portraits. I work in my studio, from my own photographs. When I am on the road or when I travel I take a lot of pictures and I study the composition to frame properly. I can imagine the finish painting before I take the picture. In the studio, I draw my subject and then apply the color with a brush directly and freely. Watercolor paintings must be spontaneous, fresh, transparent, bright and that is what I always keep in mind.
