Gisèle Lapalme, born in 1953, in a small village in northern Ontario, Iroquois Falls.

At the age of 13, Gisèle developed an interest in the visual arts. She won first prize in a primary school competition in 1965.

In 1966, she enrolled in the three-year program with the Famous Artists School of Connecticut, USA. (Norman Rockwell). She completed her studies and graduated in 1971 while employed as a paste-up artist for The Enterprise Weekly Newspaper in her village.

Gisèle Lapalme is distinguished by a rich and evocative style, anchored in her Canadian roots and inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds her. His work reflects a deep connection with rural landscapes, farm animals and natural phenomena such as the Northern Lights. She uses a vibrant palette, with a predilection for yellow, which brings brightness and warmth to her creations.

Her artistic approach combines elements of realism and impressionism, creating an atmosphere of mystery and movement. Gisèle tells stories through her works, capturing moments of everyday life with touching sensitivity. The different techniques she uses, from drawing to watercolor, acrylic and collage, demonstrate her versatility and her desire to explore different forms of expression.

In addition to her landscapes and portraits, her work is also marked by a strong emotional dimension, where each canvas seems to vibrate with colored music. Her ability to evoke emotions through art makes her a unique artist, appreciated for her contribution to the Canadian art scene.

In summary, Gisèle Lapalme’s style is a fusion of bright colours, varied techniques and emotional storytelling, rooted in personal experience and her travels across Canada.

From 1999 to 2024, The Barrie Sports Hall of Fame, Ontario committee chose Gisèle to paint portraits of sports personalities, at the Olympic and Special Olympics level. Since then, she has painted 34 portraits, which are featured in the prestigious gallery at the Allandale Sports Centre in Barrie. The last portrait was executed in October 2024.

2024 – The Historical Society of Saint Lazare chooses her to illustrate the cover of the book ‘Patience will win’ History of Saint Lazare for 150 years

2023 – project for the CIUSSS hospital of the West Island of Montreal, a work representing the 12 rights of users, a watercolor mounted 16 inches by 22 inches

2021- The city of Saint Lazare invites Gisèle to create a thematic work for the park “La Muse”, 4 feet by 8 feet for 3 consecutive years

Today she works in her intimate and cozy studio, in a pretty wooded neighborhood of Saint Lazare, QC.
