Welcome back!
It is good to have you back after the holiday season. I hope you had a restful and inspiring time, and are ready to resume our AHA season.
Over the recent years, the monthly meetings have become more focused on formalities rather than the true mission of the association. As a consequence, meetings have become less attractive to many members.
We now want to focus on our key missions, which are to:
In order to accomplish the above missions and to encourage more members, as well as non-members, to attend and participate in the meetings, our monthly meetings will be focused on the presentations and demonstrations by guest speakers. We want to bring to the meetings, more fun, engagement and hands on! Some topics we are working on and would like to bring to you are:
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the month of May, will remain as a formal meeting, open to AHA members only, focused on the presentation of AHA financial operations and voting/elections.
Please join us on Monday, February 17th, at 7 pm, for a presentation and demonstration by one of AHA members and artist, Sinclair Maloney. Sinclair will be sharing with us his approach during the creation of his works.
The meeting is held at the Shaar Community Center in Hudson. The demo is free for AHA members. A fee of $15 is requested for non- AHA members.
Sinclair Maloney began his interest in the arts throughout college in Fine Arts and university obtaining his Bachelor of Visual Arts. Struck by the commercial viability of photography as well as a great passion for this he abandoned all painting and sculpture and continued professional photography and video for around 15 years. Digital photography changed the marketplace drastically and he again had to find another line of work that was more viable. Sensing a void for his creativity he decided several years ago to give painting a second chance with a particular attention towards landscapes. His medium is acrylic and oil.
Come and see the beautiful works of our AHA members and great artists from area of Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
When: April 25 (vernissage in the evening), 26 and 27
Where: Shaar Community Center, Hudson
In addition to the members’ exhibition of their works, we would like to introduce at the show for the very first time, a small exhibition of affordable ($100) and thematic painting. The theme selected is ‘tree’, to be painted (medium of your choice) on a 12”x12” canvas (standard or gallery). Framing not required but sides of the canvas must be painted. The small works show is open to exhibitors and non-exhibitors.
AHA members interested to participate for the small affordable work exhibition are welcome to give their name to aha.exposition@gmail.com, by end February. No exhibition fees required for the small affordable works. (Fees of $40 only required for the AHA members participating to the general exhibition).
Registration for the Spring show will start early March.
A friendly reminder to the members wishing to exhibit at the Spring show, you have until February 15th to submit your desire to donate a painting for the raffle. Please provide your name and picture of the painting you wish to donate to aha.exposition@gmail.com.
