All artists have their own definition of art. It is very personal and hard to describe in words but can be seen through the emotion in their paintings, sculptures, mosaics etc. Val sees art as a lifelong journey running parallel to our life’s journey; similar to railway tracks that are joined together every so often by ties. Her informal art education has been influenced by many great educators in the field of art. Val started her art journey as a decorative artist working with acrylic paints. She was fortunate enough to have an instructor who taught the basic principles of art – design, perspective, value and hue etc. She has taken courses with Russian masters of Palekh painting. It is detailed and whimsical and influences the details in her landscapes, animals paintings and people portraits. Val’s portraits have been influenced by courses given by Brigit Marlin and Steven Rosetti and her landscape paintings are greatly influenced by Nathaie Freniere. Val’s love of nature, animals and people can be seen in all her paintings.
